There are more than 80 restaurants, cafes and sodas on this coast so you won’t be short of choice, however long you are staying!
Do try Costa Rican Caribbean cuisine with its fusion of Jamaican and Tican flavors: this coast is famous for it.
But there are also choices from all around the world here so if you suddenly feel like a Thai, or Italian or Argentinian or Spanish or Middle Eastern meal, there is a restaurant here for you.

Elena Brown’s, Puerto Viejo: Almost next to the bakery, this long-standing Caribbean restaurant serves all the traditional Caribbean dishes.

Maxi’s Manzanillo: Justly famous for its fresh Red Snapper, this atmospheric and popular restaurant serves lunch or dinner overlooking the beach.

Selvin’s, Playa Chiquita: Open only on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, this deservedly popular restaurant near Punta Uva beach serves consistently good, fresh Caribbean food: just the place for an early dinner after beach-time!

El Refugio, Punta Uva: Tiny (4 tables only), atmospheric, romantic and with delicious food, this Argentinian restaurant has a small but varied menu, the quality is high and service is excellent.

Todo es Posible, Puerto Viejo: A small Italian restaurant with outside seating serving home-made pasta and a good Frito Misto (fried mixed seafood).

La Pecora Nera, Cocles: This Italian restaurant is expensive but consistently good with innovative food. Their ‘Menu de Degustacion’ (4 or 5 small courses) is the main reason to eat here!

La Casita Azul, Cocles: This Spanish restaurant located in a pretty Caribbean house has a varied menu, including authentic tapas and a variety of paellas.

Congo Reeff, Puerto Viejo: A new restaurant in the pretty garden at the back of the Lulu Berlu art shop. Original and interesting dishes using tropical ingredients.
